Are Nike Golf Shoes Any Good?

March 19th, 2010

Nike golf shoes are one of the things you can use to improve your game. If you have only played golf in casual shoes before, or if you’re just looking for a way to improve your general game, investing in a good pair of golf shoes can make a large difference. Just like in other sports, the shoes you wear can seriously affect your performance.

As you have to develop a smooth swing and be able to follow through on that swing in golf, all without losing any control of the strength in your swing, your golf shoes can assist or hinder your game for you. Nike golf shoes are designed to help you balance, gripping the turf as much as necessary and allowing you to put full power and control behind every swing.

As these golf shoes have special compartments in the heels, every step is easier to make. They offer the level of support your feet, legs and knees require in order to play golf very comfortably over long periods of time.

Since golf usually involves lots of walking, Nike golf shoes have been made as a hybrid of walking shoe and golf shoe. They cushion the joints of your legs and knees against impact with each step you take, allowing you to concentrate your strength and effort on your game of golf, rather than on how you are going to get to the next hole or to wherever your ball landed.

When you go to buy Nike golf shoes, there are several things that you should bear in mind. The first thing you should consider is your level of skill. Golf, like many other sports, has equipment that can be used by novices or advanced professionals alike, but it is better to differentiate between the skill levels.

In many cases, amateurs pick the Nike golf shoes suited for professionals, but never end up finding the full potential of the shoe, as they do not know how to get the most out of the shoes.

While professionals definitely do get fantastic use out of these Nike golf shoes, it is often better for amateurs to purchase entry level Nike golf shoes which would better suit their needs. The increase in power given to your stroke will usually be lost on those who are novices, as they do not yet possess the requisite skill to control the stroke as much as they would need to.

Therefore, it is better to buy Nike golf shoes that match your level of skill, as these shoes will have the comfort and features you need. You can purchase Nike golf shoes from a variety of sources. For those who want cheaper shoes yet still require the quality of the professional shoes, you can buy last season’s shoes from Nike outlet centers.

If you want only top of the range golf shoes, you can buy from online Nike stockists or through a variety of online retail vendors (see below).

Remote Control Car Reviews

March 19th, 2010

I have read loads of reviews about remote control cars, because I am a subscriber to a remote control car enthusiasts’ magazine that carries articles about all the different sorts of remote control gas cars on the market. It also suggests the best one to buy depending on whether you are a first time owner or an RC old hand. The magazine is fantastic, and it helps me understand what other RC car owners feel about the different models and brands of RC cars and trucks.

I have to say that people’s opinions vary quite widely on every subject, which is why it’s probably always best to do your own research and get what best suits you, rather than getting what other people say will suit you, when they do not even know you. Having said that, many first time buyers do not really know what they are looking for, and it is really these people that these reviews are written for.

However, these reviews are not meant to be taken too literally, rather they are intended as a guideline so that prospective greenhorn buyers have to think about the aspects of buying a remote control gas car or truck. It also gives experts a run down of the salient facts. Then you need to make up your own mind whether you care, for instance, whether the car’s engine runs on gas or nitro.

All in all, I like this magazine because it takes into account people from all walks of life, and its writers and editor understand that even if you are interested in buying a gas remote control car, you may not have enough money or you might be reading just out of interest in RC cars or trucks.

We all realize that money is difficult to come by these days, and purchasers are becoming more and more well-informed about the goods they want, which is a good thing in my view. After all, there are other merchants who just desire to get the most money they can for their products and mark up their RC model car prices to excessive amounts in the hope that they will get a couple of stupid customers that did not do their research.

And I am sure that they probably do get a few customers like that, because they do stay in business one way or another and I regularly hear horror stories about individuals who have paid far too much for their RC gas car or truck.

When you ask them why they did not take the trouble to read the reviews in a magazine, they usually say that they did not know about the magazines, or even worse, that they did not have enough time. Therefore it seems that they had sufficient time to work like a dog for the money, but then not sufficient time to read a short magazine review? I doubt it very much. With a bit of luck, consumers will continue becoming more and more cautious about their purchases.

It is such a pity, so, If you happen to be a new RC car fan, or you know someone who is, please make sure you read the remote control car and truck reviews before making a purchase. It can literally save you hundreds of your hard earned dollars.

Using Stylish Illumination to Wonderful Effect.

March 18th, 2010

When you are considering the interior design of a house or room, illumination is almost certainly the most important factor of the changes to the interior decoration. After all, it is the factor that generates the mood of the room. You can create moods from intimacy to austere clinicism just by the power of your light bulb or rotating a dimmer control.

However, if you want to be sure that the effect of the lighting is the one you are looking for, it is important that you be acquainted with the four main kinds of lighting.

Ambient illumination: This is the general illumination for the entire room. In most rooms it is the typical light in the centre of the ceiling be it a fluorescent tube or an incandescent bulb. It is suggested that you make use of one or more dimmers in order to have more flexibility in creating effects for each occasion.

Local lights: These lights are used to supplement or even briefly replace the ambient lighting. Local lights are most frequently standard lamps, table and wall lights and are normally used in order to assist such activities as reading, cooking, and shaving. The concentration of the light is local and it has to be properly worked out so it won?t strain the eyes.

Accent lights Accent lights are sources of light for showing off decorative items, ordinarily placed so as to draw attention to an objet d?art . Quite literally to show it in its best light.

Natural light: This is the one we get free though skylights, windows and doors. This light is controllable for part of the day by shades, curtains, drapes, blinds or awnings, but clearly varies with the time of the day, the season and the weather. Some locations see huge variations in natural light according to the season, eg monsoon, snow, etc.

It is doubtless easiest, if you take a house room by room. Start by thinking about what the room is used for. Retirees will probably want to take advantage of the daytime natural light for hobbies and reading, whereas a working couple with school-age kids, will be more active in the evening, when additional illumination might be more imperative. Write down what you do and where you do it. Do you have a favourite armchair for reading the paper, do you read the paper during daylight hours or after work? Be courageous in your selection of lighting, but also keep in mind that illumination can have a strong influence on our perception of dimensions, making a room look larger or smaller than it is in reality.

There are numerous ways to light a room but they all come from one of two perspectives: the lighting is either practical or aesthetic. Yes, they are both used to enable you to see more effortlessly, but highlighting the pages of a book or a shaving mirror is not quite the same as using a soft light to highlight a statue of the Madonna in an alcove.

In a short synopsis, you could use the few lines below to give you starting ideas when you are considering changing a room?s lighting:

i] Position a standard lamp behind armchairs: they ought to be between three and five feet tall. ii] Use an accent light to high or even low light a work of art. iii] Use an accent light to underline the lines of bookshelves. iv] The ambient light should be adjustable. v] Use local illumination to cover the walls with a low light or glow (can be sunk into the floor)

Gold Coins

March 17th, 2010

Gold coins are extremely beautiful items and collecting them goes back to when coins were first issued in pre-Roman Europe. However, it was only in the Middle Ages that the hoarding of gold coins became a leisure pursuit amongst the aristocracy and merchants who could afford to save such valuable items for their beauty and historical importance alone.

Coin collecting in general is still a very popular hobby enjoyed by millions of people of all ages. School children all over the world have small collections of overseas coins. Later, that hobby might expand into collecting coins from one’s own country. For example, it is easier and less expensive to collect a cent or penny from every year in the 20th Century in your own country than a foreign country.

This higher level of collecting coins can later become an expensive hobby once one has started working and has more money to spend. One might choose to concentrate on collecting gold coins from a particular period or of a certain denomination. Dollar and sovereign coins are very popular in this regard.

In the USA, gold coins were in distribution from 1838 to 1933. The first design was the Liberty Head Bust but this was changed in 1907 to the Indian Head and Saint Gaudens motifs, which were used until 1933. The problems presented by the Great Depression caused gold coins to be recalled to be melted down. This made them rarer and therefore more valuable.

In the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe, gold was used for coins from before the birth of Christ and many examples of these Roman and Celtic gold coins still exist today. Gold is no longer used as currency in Europe either, although in the UK, a gold sovereign is still worth one pound. The motif on the reverse is George and the Dragon, while the reigning monarch’s head is on the obverse

South Africa minted its first gold coin named the Krugerrand in 1967. The Krugerrand has no face value because it was not intended to be used as currency. It is made of one ounce of pure gold and is usually purchased solely for investment reasons. Since then other countries have also issued bullion or investment coins. For instance, Canada manufactured the Gold Maple Leaf in 1979 and Australia made the Nugget in 1981.

In the days of the Gold Standard, countries promised to match the value of their currency with the amount of gold they held in reserve. That meant that if a country printed paper money without buying more gold to back it, the value of the paper currency would fall in relation to foreign currencies.

Different countries came off the Gold Standard at slightly different time, but most of them dropped the standard in or around 1971.

Collecting gold coins is a first-rate pastime, but it ought not really be seen as an investment, because old gold coins carry a premium to the value of gold within them. This value is sentiment and that can change quickly. If you want to collect gold coins all well and good, but if you want to buy gold for an investment, then buy bullion coins or bars.

Ladies Golf Apparel and Fashion

March 17th, 2010

I was perusing one of those ‘Golfing for Women’ magazines the other day and started wondering where the women are, who wear the golf apparel modeled in women’s golf magazines? I’ve never seen women, professionals included, who would dress in such expensive and outrageous clothing!

It’s easy to spend money kitting yourself out for golf: hats, sunglasses, gloves, shirts, shorts, socks, windbreakers and shoes all add up quickly, even if you shop at the sales. Then factor in equipment, bag and cart and you have to play quite often to keep the “CPU” – cost per use down to an acceptable level.

One glossy advertisement showed a beautiful model in really short shorts (like that’s allowed on courses!) that cost nearly $300, a golf shirt at almost $600, a jacket by Ralph Lauren at almost $200 and two-toned Utuser shoes costing $400 plus.

That comes to nearly $1,500! I know that I could never hope to get the CPU on that outfit down to anywhere near a normal limit in my golfing lifetime! Don’t get me wrong – I love clothes and I really love shoes, but could never afford, nor even want, golf shoes or pants that cost as much as a lot of people’s weekly wages.

Granted, you need comfortable golfing shoes that don’t look like a pair of clogs, but really, you can find cheaper and still fashionable golf shoes.

I have bought a couple of really stylish golfing outfits, even though none of them are famous brand names. If I were to add up the cost of all of those articles of clothing, it would not add up to the price of a Tse golf shirt. Personally, I would prefer to have several stylish outfits than one that is priced way too much.

If I were to wear a $1,500 outfit to play golf in, I would just be too worried about getting it grubby or perspiring in it to play a decent game of golf.

Electric Bug Zapper

March 15th, 2010

If you are not yet acquainted with the electric insect killer, you are really going to love it and if you have used one before, I bet you’ll welcome it back like an old, long-lost pal! The hand held bug zapper does just what it says it does: it zaps bugs. But it does it really, really well.

Any bug that is touched by the wiring of the electric insect zapper is fried. Smaller bugs like midges and mosquitoes are disintegrated with a very pleasing flash and a crack. Larger insect, like house flies and wasps are killed, but don’t explode like the smaller ones.

Just how many times have these flying bugs taken the edge off an otherwise lovely evening in the garden? Or how many times have you not been able to get a good night’s sleep, because you know there’s at least one mosquito in the bedroom. It has happened to me dozens and dozens of times, I know! It is very satisfying to get one’s own back with the electric bug zapper.

I don’t like killing things unnecessarily – I’m married to a Buddhist- but mosquitoes? I’m sorry, they have to go. And the hand held insect zapper dispatches them without any more ado. No waiting and hoping they’ll fly into the ultraviolet light and then into the mesh. No, one sweep of the hand held insect killer and the mosie’s gone and you can hear whether you killed her or not. (I say her, because the sucking mosquitoes always are females – honest, I wasn’t being sexist).

There are two basic sorts of electric bug zapper. There’s the battery operated bug zapper and the rechargeable electric bug zapper. Both work on the same principle, but I prefer the rechargeable kind, although I suppose you could use rechargeable batteries too. (I bet they would be more expensive that the bug zapper in the first place). Anyway, I have been using a handheld bug killer of the rechargeable sort for five years and I am ecstatic about them.

These days, I spend a lot of time in northern Thailand with my wife, so you can bet your life that my hand held insect zapper gets a good work-out practically every evening. We usually eat in the garden in the evening and all socializing is done outside by tradition, especially in the country, where we live, so it comes in very handy. I also use my handheld insect killer to ’sweep’ the bedroom for bugs before we go to sleep at night, just like a secret agent.

The handheld insect zapper seems to get better every time I buy one, which makes it difficult to give you definite specifications. The hand held bug zappers I bought four or five years ago, often failed within six to nine months of purchase, although their ability to hold a charge was less after four or five months.

However, the new electric insect killer will last 9-12 months and still be formidable after nine months. My latest one even has a powerful light called a headlamp incorporated into it. I’m not sure what it’s supposed to be for, but if you feel that vengeance is sweet, you can attract mosquitoes with it and then kill them with your electronic bug killer.

Landscape Lighting Exra-Ordinaire

March 15th, 2010

While having a great looking garden is important you will need to consider means of allowing the beauty of your garden to show through in various types of weather conditions. Some people also like to have the option of having their garden illuminated in the night. For these many people, looking at various landscape lighting options will allow you the opportunity of having your garden looking just the way you want it, no matter what the natural lighting conditions are.

In order to provide the best landscape lighting conditions, you will be able to choose from a wide variety of lighting fixtures. These fixtures can be in the form of lamps, lanterns, spotlights, halogen lights and even solar-powered lights. The cost of these lighting fixtures varies for each type of light.

When you are planning on using landscape lighting you will need to choose where to place the lights to get the best lighting effects. You may also want to consider which lights will provide your garden with a bright lighting. You can look in landscaping magazines to get an idea of the many different ways that these landscape lighting fittings can be used.

While it is possible to find ideas for placing landscape lighting in your garden from landscape magazines there is another way too. For this method, you have to look at your garden in the daytime and in the night time. In the morning you will need to look what spots in your garden would be enhanced by the use of landscape lighting. When night falls look out at your garden again and see what areas would benefit from the use of lights.

Then, the morning after this nocturnal exercise, you can go out into the garden again and mark out approximately where you think there is a need for landscape lighting. Once you have inspected this area properly, try imagining what kind of lights will be of use. You can then go to the garden store to look for these sorts of lights.

Once you have bought your perfect lights and you have read the instructions on setting them up you will have to commence setting up the landscape lighting in a manner that will make sure that your garden looks nice. You ought to try subtle and strong lighting in order to decide on the best for your garden; a dimmer can help with these tests.

Once you have completed your tests and have installed your final lighting, you will see what a difference having the right landscape lighting can make to your garden. From now on, after night falls, you will see the beauty of your garden in a different light.

Choosing A Wedding Dress

March 14th, 2010

The wedding dress is just about the most important item in the wedding ceremony apart from the vows and the rings. The bride wants to look her best and the groom wants to look his best too. A gorgeous wedding dress will help the bride’s aspiration to look dazzling come true.

Therefore, it is important to select the wedding dress with care, as every bride knows. However, there are a few items that are not as obvious as the wedding dress just looking beautiful and we will list the most important of these below.

Besides personal taste in fashion, the most important consideration has to be the time of the year. Which season are you going to marry in? What temperature is it likely to be? Could it rain? If it is likely to be cold, you ought to wear a heavier cloth than if it is likely to be hot. You might also permit the season to have an impact on the colours you wear, but that is a matter of personal taste. For example, winter colours might be slightly darker than summer colours.

Another important aspect when choosing the colour of the wedding dress is the skin colouration of the bride. This matter is also true of the accessories. The bride will also need a head-dress, a veil, gloves and a bouquet, all of which should flatter the wedding dress and the bride’s hair and skin colouration.

Try to get a wedding dress that fits perfectly. This sounds obvious, but it is easy to think that you can make minor changes yourself later on. However, making alterations is not as easy as it sounds and you could end up making matters worse rather than better. In any case, you do not want to be worrying that a stitch you made will break or come undone at the wrong moment. It is far better to get a good fitting wedding dress than to get the precise colour that you want.

It is important to bear in mind the quality of the picture of the wedding dress, if you are buying or hiring from a catalogue or web site. You also should leave plenty of time to be able to return the dress if you have to. The fact is that photographs are not always true to life and packers do make mistakes, so if your selection is not what you expected, when it arrives, you will need to have a couple of weeks to return it and receive a new one. Allocate at least three weeks for the switch over; longer if you can.

White has always been the most popular colour for first time brides, but it is not a rule. Off-white or pastel shades look very good too and they will set you apart from the norm. Apple white or blush pink are very effective colours for a wedding dress, but as I said before, everything should be colour co-ordinated with the colour of the bride’s skin and hair and the bouquet, if you are dead set on carrying a certain bouquet of flowers, like, say, gardenias.

Patio Garden Furniture

March 14th, 2010

If you have a lovely patio or deck or a beautiful garden, then you have to have good patio furniture in order to enjoy it. There is no finer end to a busy day than sitting outside on the patio with a drink and a newspaper or a book. I like to sit in the garden after the sun has waned a little, but before the mosquitoes come out for a few hours reading a book.

There are many different styles of patio furniture to choose from that range from classic to modern. There is also a full range of choice in that there are chairs, loungers, swinging sofas, tables, outdoor fridges, barbecue sets and patio heaters amongst other things. A full set need not cost more than $1,000, but you can start with a table and two chairs and build up your patio furniture set step by step.

The many choices you have when looking for patio furniture are the style and the material it is made from. Most patio furniture stays outside all day and all night in any weather, so it important to get furniture that is well-made and weather-proof. All weather furniture is normally made from plastic-coated steel, wicker, massive wood or moulded plastic.

Whatever you choose, make sure that the guarantee makes your choice worth the money. For example, I mean, if the furniture costs $200, but has a 12 month guarantee, then you should be prepared to pay $4 a week for your investment and everything else is a bonus.

Another tip is to buy your patio furniture from a reputable manufacturer or a reputable retailer, unless it is massive timber furniture in which case you will want a reputable local craftsman. It depends where you live of course, but any patio furniture is going to have a hard time of it and it will remain outside sometimes no matter what your intentions are now.

Standard plastic patio furniture is pretty good and will stand up to all but the coldest of weather, which can make it become brittle. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can have the same effect on cheap plastic chairs. White is the usual colour, but there are others. Make sure that you buy something that will take your weight, especially if you are a bit on the heavy side. I have had legs of plastic chairs go on me, but luckily I was on grass both times. On concrete or near the edge of raised decking could be very serious.

Once you have chosen your patio tables, chairs and possibly loungers, there are one or two other items that I think are essential to allowing the complete enjoyment of your patio deck. For example, if you want to use your outdoor furniture in the evening you may find it chilly or you may be bothered by insects.

This need not be a problem. You can get a patio heater for quite a reasonable price. A gas patio heater will keep up to eight people lovely and warm. To complete your patio furniture set, you might want a mosquito trap of some kind.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on many topics, but is currently involved with commercial patio heaters. If you are interested in patio heaters too, please click through to Residential Patio Heaters.

The Virgin Islands Of The USA

March 13th, 2010

The US Virgin Islands came into America’s possession in 1917 after Denmark sold the Danish West Indies to it for $25m in gold. At the time, the USA was worried that the Germans would gain control of the islands and use them as a base from which to launch attacks on America.

The status of the US Virgin Islands is one of an organized, unincorporated territory of the United States. This means the residents of the US Virgin Islands are US citizens, but cannot vote in US presidential elections. Therefore, US citizens do not need a passport to visit the US Virgin Islands.

The US Virgin Islands are part virgin Islands archipelago and are located in the Leeward islands of the Lesser Antilles along with the British Virgin Islands. The three main islands of this American territory are called Saint Croix, Saint John and Saint Thomas. There is also a much smaller island called Water Island. All together, there are about 60 islands with a total surface area of 133.73 square miles, although most of the islands are uninhabited.

The four main islands of the US Virgin Islands are known to their residents by nicknames. These are ‘Twin City’ (St. Croix); ‘Rock City’ (St. Thomas); ‘Love City’ (St. John) and ‘Small City’ (Water Island) and their total population was 108,612 in the 2000 census.

Since the 1960’s, the islands turned their focus from agriculture to heavy industry and tourism and the US Virgin Islands are a very popular destination for American tourists and honeymooners. It is very easy for Americans to get there because a passport is not required, the islands are only 1,730 miles east south-east of Miami, the currency is the US dollar and everybody speaks English.

The islands enjoy an arid, pleasant climate. The average temperature in the capital, Charlotte Amelie, is 33c in the summer and 30c in the winter. September to November are the wettest months and February and March are the driest. The USVI are subject to hurricanes. Hurricane Hugo in 1989 was particularly devastating, but the islands were also hit in 1998, 1999 and 2008.

Tourism is the industry that most of the islanders are engaged in and about 2,000,000 people visit every year, many of them on cruise liners. St Thomas and St Croix are the best equipped to deal with tourists offering hotels and resorts along with lovely beaches and fine restaurants. Water sports are the main activity, although tourists can also hire horses or jeeps to discover the interior of the US Virgin Islands.
