Retirement Gift Ideas For Executives

January 31st, 2010

Personalization is the key to giving the ideal retirement present to those top people in business, who have probably tasted the better things in life. It must be a gift that permits them to remember their time in the company, where they had slaved for decades to get to the position of their desires.

The present must be something related to their previous business interests, and which, after their life-time of successful deals and perfect investments, reminds them of those business-related activities that gave them pleasure and therefore makes them feel happy again. These two things are fundamental and essential to help the former executive remember how they lived their working lives, and of course, the person who thoughtfully gave them the present.

For the golfer: Nothing says leisure and enthusiasm more than the sport of golf. The demand for golf clubs, gloves, carts and the like has rocketed over the years due to the rise in industries like hedge fund investing and financial advice. More business people simply means more golfers since golf is the sport where most of them bond and get to know each other. Further evidence of this, is that golf courses are becoming more commonplace in rising economies like India and China, where Mission Hills and many other courses are often advertised in sporting media.

It only takes some creative thought. You could put their company logo, family seal or monogram on golf balls, markers, tees and golf bag to show that certain kind of privilege that they relish. For those who like to take friends to the golf course with them, nothing says camaraderie more than personalized golf vests for the whole group of friends!

Where they have done well in a favourite tournament with other golfers, a miniature personalized scoreboard print will also stimulate memories as much as photos do. With podium photos and ranks immortalized, you can conjure up the spirit of the competition and help the golfer (and other participants) relive the moment just as if they’re playing and enjoying the game again.

Recreational Gambling: Some executive types spend some of their spare time in casinos, where they display their abundance and attempt to win more at the same time. Such people live life in the fast lane, as hey say, winning and losing lots of money as they go along. The ideal present for this kind of person, are items that represent his/her lifestyle, like a personally branded cigar or a monogrammed cigar case and cutter. How about a customized deck of cards with the logo that represents the retiree’s trade or industry?

You could also go in for the classic present of expensive wine or champagne, the taste of which will remind them of the good life by its fantastic taste. A bottle of Lafite, Brut or Mensil are on this list. Giving ex top-flight executives these universal symbols of privilege would contribute vastly to the perfect retirement party for them. A cigar case personalized with a monogram and expensive wine do go a long way to achieving this.

In Conclusion: Nothing else will remind them of their former lifestyles more than personalized items that reflect their former way of life. Giving these sorts of gifts to retiring executives hits the nail right on the head. They should be able to live their golden years the way they want to and thinking along the lines of luxury and personalization will help you discover the best retirement gift for them easily.

Appropriate Retirement Gifts For Golfers

December 12th, 2009

There is a commonly-held belief that golf is a pastime and sport of entrepreneurs and businessmen. It also has the reputation of being exclusive and elite and not being accessible to ordinary blue collared workers. However, this is not really true, since modernization and commercialization have brought this so-called elite sport into the realm of normal people.

This is because you don’t need to buy sophisticated equipment to join in. Unlike big game fishing or polo which require a lot of resources – a boat and a horse respectively – golfers just require a set of golf clubs, which are reasonably affordable these days. Bearing this in mind, retirement gifts for golfers and aspiring golfers are more easily thought of.

Personally made retirement gifts to personalize golfing equipment is quite an easy task as you could easily make it personal by embroidering such items as home made golf club pouches, and caddy covers. These can be knitted that is if you are into knitting or any similar craft which may require different materials.

Another good idea is to think about the apparel fashion of golfing which means to look at the clothing worn by golfers. You may even be able to establish a new fashion in golfing apparel by using your imagination to create an interesting design.

Common gifts. The most common method of buying a retirement gift for golfers is to go to the nearest sports shop and get your retiree one of the things sold there. It may sound a little impersonal to just get the retiree a commercially available gift, but then this may actually prove very useful, if the retiree is still a novice golfer. Maybe you might want to get him a set of golf clubs as it is the basic requirement to be able to play golf.

Moreover, you may find other accessories there that your retiree golfer still needs, but then perhaps you could also use your imagination and think about what you can make to enhance the golfing equipment he may already have.

Commercially made golfing equipment is also a good idea, if you want to make your retiree feel professional by giving him a famous set of clubs, making him look like a pro.

Gags and Jokes The fun part of deciding to give a gag gift, instead of the traditional gift, is the humour such items can invest. It also adds to the brighter aspect of the golf-playing retiree’s party and his friends will be able to join in with smiles, laughs and jokey comments as well.

The joke gift should be bought quite carefully as the joke gift may represent a sensitive matter for the retiree, especially if he is still a novice player. Gag present for golfers might be taken badly and discourage their learning if they are disturbed by the idea emphasized by the joke gift given to them.

However, for veteran players who already know the game well, the gift of a good gag gift on their retirement day would be quite amusing as they would see golfing not only as a way to reduce stress but to actually just have some fun as well.

People ought to view retirement presents for golfers as merely a easy method of encouraging your golfer friend to appreciate the funny side of life after his career has ended.

Enjoy yourself if you are going to or planning a Golfer’s Retirement Party, however if you want to get a better understanding of retirement, please go to our website Retirement Planning. You are welcome to reprint this article – but get your own unique content version here.

About Power Screwdrivers

November 13th, 2009

Have you ever had to deal with a obstinate screw that just would not go into the material as easily as you had wanted? How about one that would not come out for you either? This is frustrating as well as time consuming. Electric screwdrivers are a great solution for these issues. They are very effective and inexpensive.

Home Schooling and its Effects on the Family

November 9th, 2009

According to the National Center For Education Statistics, roughly 1.1 million children underwent home schooling in 2005 alone. That’s a lot of children. Once upon a time, homeschooling used to be an extreme statement – something like a declaration of independence.

It was the right-wing Christians who pushed for homeschooling in the 1980’s and legalized it in every State. But nowadays the average homeschooling pupil is not religiously motivated.

Later surveys show that parents are quite fed up with the public school system where a lot of the learning is superficial and compulsory. They are also concerned about the negative environment in school, ranging from drugs and abuse to negative peer pressure.

Because of this, we have a surprising mix of people who form the homeschooling world of today. They cut across all religious creeds and all regional borders. Their main aim is providing meaningful and productive education through a method that strengthens the bond between the various members of the family.

All these families have one main thing in common – a long enduring commitment to the sanctity of childhood. The children of these families are given a primary position. Many believe, and, probably, rightly so, that home schooling allows parents to bring up their kids in a more natural and caring environment.

Public schools can make a child anxious, diffident and thoroughly nasty. Children who get their education at home are protected from these damaging, negative influences until they reach an age where they can deal with them.

Home-schooling draws the whole family into the quasi religious task of teaching. Everyone is put to work. Both the parents together form a bond with the children. Any experience can be turned into an learning experience. Both the parents are aware of exactly what is going on in their child’s education.

Parents also have a greater control over the kind of religious and moral values that the child is learning. Even watching a film together can become an educational experience. Trips to the libraries, zoos, museums and other places become educational as well as recreational.

A home-schooling family is primarily dependent on the income of one earning member. That means that quite often spending has to be curtailed and proper planning of expenditure is a must. This helps to bring the family members together and everybody gets involved in the process of saving money.

Just having a parent at home to supervise, to nurture and to care for the children brings with it a lot of love and caring. Even the husband chips in and there just is no room for boredom.

Yes OK, problems still do sometimes occur, and there will be many misgivings in your mind, but when you know that your children can always count on you, and your kids know it too, then homeschooling becomes a richly rewarding experience.

A Family History of Carpentry

November 5th, 2009

My family has had carpenters in it for at least four generations and I can not go back any farther than that. My father’s father came from Anglesey, an island off north Wales called Ynys Mon in Welsh. I visited his place of birth once. We were directed by a local old-timer to a meadow, but we could not see a house or any ruins. I scrambled up unto a mound of earth to get a better view and then we realized that I was standing on his old home.

He had lived in a hole in the ground covered over with earth! A door was still on it, overgrown after 70 years or so of neglect and there was a kind of stone chimney in the long grass on the top. I was 10 years old and my Dad was 33 and it was the only time either of us went the length of Wales to look up our family history. It is more than probable that my great-grandfather was a shepherd.

My grandfather ran away from home at 14 years of age to Liverpool and became an apprentice ship’s carpenter. That would have been in 1914. What a time to choose to go out into the big world – the start of the First World War in Europe. He could not speak English at the time, but must have taught himself as he learned his apprenticeship.

He passed out as the best in his year and was given a set of the finest woodworking tools of the age. Each tool had a small brass plate in the handle with his name etched into it. My father still cherished them when I was growing up.

I never met my granndfather; he died a month before I was born, but I was named after him and, knowing that I was due and that he was going, he left me a teething ring, which I still have. More to the point of this article though, there was not a single power tool in his tool bag when he died in 1954.

My father was the youngest son and when he was old enough, he had to leave school to be apprentice to his father who had stopped his roaming by then. Growing up with my father in the 1950’s and 1960’s, I do not remember him using power tools either. He used a brace-and-bit for drilling, several assorted hand-sharpened saws for cutting and his only acquiescence to modern technology, a Yankee, which was a pump-action screwdriver. Everything he needed to hang a door or cut a roof was in one bag or later on a box, which he made himself.

I went away to study and travel and when I returned for good 12 years later, my brother had finished his carpenter’s apprenticeship and was working for my Dad. That would have been in about 1980 and my brother still vows to ths day that Dad only bought power tools then because he, my brother, had learned how use them in technical college. Something which my father always denied, although it did seem a bit of a coincidence to me. My brother, now in his Fifties, still uses hand tools where he can, but also has the full range of power tools in a near-by van.

His son, now nearly 30 is also a carpenter and he has a power tool for every job and throw-away saws. How times have changed.

3 Ways To Make A Profitable Opt-In List

November 1st, 2009

You have at long last realized that you need a good opt-in list. After reading countless articles and sought expert advice and have read many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists, you have finally made up your mind to have one of your own. Then this happens, you think you know everything there is to know about opt-in lists and have followed their advice to the letter but you still aren’t able to make any revenue.

In fact, you may even be losing money. You may be hiring writers or there may be other costs incurred. Even if you have a large list, but only a very small percentage actually purchases from you, you could still be losing money. You’ll realize that after a few weeks, when you see your statistics and sales figures.

So what could have gone wrong? Why have some been successful where you have failed? The most common mistake is to jump straight right in. You chose a subject which you thought might be pretty popular and would make you money. However, this is just not the case. Just because you write to people from the list, it doesn’t mean they will buy.

Here I will offer more advice, for those who have started an opt-in list and have failed. You can rejuvenate your disastrous project. For those who are just starting off, here are three quick and easy ways to build a profitable opt-in list.

1) Get your customers to trust you and your products first. Just launching an opt-in list does not make you an specialist or a credible supplier. Write many articles before you start an opt-in list. Write about any topic you know and have started and used for your site. Use forums to gain knowledge about your customers about their wants and needs and aim for those wants and needs.

Join forums from other sites as well. Provide expert advice and suggestions. When you feel that people trust you, you will be able to create your own opt-in list. You can build a customer base with other forum users. You can invite them to join your list. Friends are always good customers. Put up a link to your site so that they can see what your business is all about.

The truth is, the money will only come in when consumers and subscribers believe in and trust you. They want a product or service that is good value for their money. People are not going to buy something because of your recommendation if they don’t know you.

2) Find a product or service that people want and need. Although it may not be your forte, if you provide a service and product that you have researched and learned about well, you can put that over.

While it is a fact that it is best to sell something that you have an interest in, there are not many people who have the same interests exactly. Do your research well and you will see the profits come in. Also provide your subscribers with promotional material that they can actually use and spread around.

3) Make friends with other opt-in list users. This is beneficial especially if it is someone who has already started a thriving opt-in list. These are people that have experience in this venture and experience is still the best teacher. While there are many articles accessible on the Internet, there is nothing like getting a first hand explanation from someone you trust.

Knowledgeable opt-in list users will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do because they have gone through it. While different situations crop up for different people, the general ideas can still be very helpful. There are many dangers to avoid and these people will be able to tell you which ones.

Building a profitable opt-in list doesn’t happen overnight. There is much preparation to do. Opt-in lists must be built from scratch, as your list grows, you should also uphold the quality of your list. Keep it organized and manageable. Get or hire help if need be, just make sure that your subscribers are happy and satisfied and they will be willing to buy from you one day.

Exhibit Some Dominance

For an administrative position, most employers will want to hire those who are already familiar in the field for which they are applying for employment. This means that the applicant should buff up on the areas relating to their preferred careers. This will illustrate that the interviewee has already started on a rational occupational path and is already knowledgeable in that field.

It will do an candidate no good to profess to be a ‘jack of all trades but a master of none’ Six out of 10 applicants are hired because of their knowledge in a particular field. This only means that employers are more interested in individuals who have already mastered their occupational and have established some sort of continuous occupational growth.

Nevertheless, finding an available administrative job is only the first part of the long journey, but actually getting that dream managerial job is quite another thing. Looking and acting the role is a requirement to landing that dream job, so learn how to groom yourself; learn how to speak well and learn how to look the part.
