Teeth Whitening System: The Opalescence System

June 3rd, 2010

Everybody likes their teeth to be both pearly and white. It may sound a truism, but then it is true. People like to have beautiful teeth. One might even say that people are very vain regarding their teeth. This is because when meeting people, the teeth are usually the first feature to get noticed. We smile in order to show people that we are friendly. There are even people who rely on their smiles in order to make a living. These are the reasons for the popularity of such products as the Opalescence teeth whitening system.

The Opalescence teeth whitening system allows people to take the system home and do the whitening themselves. This might seem like a lot of work to some people, but for others, it means convenience. These days, people just do not have the time to go to the dentist’s for teeth whitening. Others opt to get a suntan instead of having their teeth whitened. This is the reason why the Opalescence teeth whitening system is so popular. Convenience is definitely one of the things that people look for these days.

How does the Opalescence teeth whitening system work? Well, first of all, you have to know that the Opalescence teeth whitening system is a professional-grade bleaching system. This means that it can whiten your teeth faster than most other over the counter teeth whitening systems. The reason for this is the fact that most over the counter teeth whitening systems contain only about 3 to 10 percent hydrogen peroxide. However, the Opalescence teeth whitening system has a 38 percent concentration of hydrogen peroxide.

Although most teeth whitening systems need the application of a bleaching light in order to ‘activate’ the product, the Opalescence teeth whitening system is the first product which say the use of the light as ‘optional’. People like this because it is frequently the case that the cost of the bleaching light is rather more than the cost of the actual product itself. Another interesting fact is that recently, many dentists are proclaiming that ’studies’ regarding the use of bleaching lights seldom prove that the light is necessary stimulate the hydrogen peroxide at all.

Although you are free to take the Opalescence teeth whitening system home and do it yourself, it is still advisable that you get a professional to whiten your teeth for you. This is because the Opalescence teeth whitening system produces the best results when in the hands of a professional user. It usually takes about 90 minutes from preparation of the mix to the end of the whole procedure. That’s it! Just one and a half hours and then you will have brighter, whiter teeth!

Besides giving you bright, white teeth, the opalescence teeth whitening system also gives you other benefits. While some teeth bleaching systems may give you sensitive teeth and thus, forever deny you the pleasure of eating ice cream, the opalescence teeth whitening system actually minimizes sensitivity. This means that you do not have to give up the pleasure of eating certain foods in order to have a great smile.

Another complaint that people have about common bleaching agents is that they often cause teeth to become vulnerable to cavities. However, the opalescence teeth whitening system actually strengthens the enamel, making it harder and reduces the likelihood of cavities.

The opalescence teeth whitening system can give great advantages to anyone who uses the product. You get whiter teeth in a convenient and painless way. So what are you waiting for?

How A Fad Diet Can Hurt You

May 25th, 2010

A fad diet is a fashionable diet plan that promises to help you lose weight usually in a comparatively short time. A fad diet frequently attracts a lot of media coverage, which then attracts a large number of overweight people to try it in order to get back in shape. Fad diets are frequently quickly discredited, but they keep raising their head from time to time.

The grapefruit diet was or is an example of a fad diet. People wanted to believe that you could lose weight just by eating. The food in this case was grapefruits, but there is also a cabbage diet. The trouble with these fad diets is that their slimming effect is only short-term, because you cannot eat only cabbage or grapefruit for the rest of your life, so the weight comes back as soon as you go back to normal.

‘If you always do what you always done, you will always get what you always got’ is a true saying. But what is worse is that a lot of of these diets can be injurious to your health.

However, do not think that fad diets are a new phenomenon. Fad diets or fad medicines have an ancient history going back to fake witch doctors, medicine men and quack doctors who doubled as barbers! Fad practitioners have a prolonged and scandalous history but they are still alive and doing very well, thank you very much, today.

These days, medicine is too tightly regulated for them, so they have turned their attention to susceptible, despondent dieters. Most of those that take up a fad diet are overweight teens longing to look like their favourite film star.

Fad diets usually concentrate on reducing or completely cutting out carbohydrates. It is the low intake of carbohydrates that brings about the rapid loss of weight. In fact, this rapid loss is due to the quick loss of water that these low-carb diets stimulate. Much of the fat might still be there, so that when you stop the diet, your body regains its normal amount of water and the lost weight is put back on just as fast as it was discarded.

In the normal course of events, carbohydrates are the source of energy for work and exercise, but with these fad diets, the carbs are no longer there, so the body begins to break down its store of fat. This may appear advantageous but it is not necessarily so. The ketones resulting from the breakdown of fat are excreted via urine and often increased volumes of urine, which can result in dehydration. People with certain medical conditions have to be very careful too; diabetics, for example.

Fad diets are popular, but they can be very detrimental to your body and when they do not work in the long-term, it can be very depressing leading to comfort eating. This is why many people start a fad diet, lose weight and are radiant for a month or two, but then slip back when they are approaching their ideal weight. They go back to their old ways and the weight starts to return. They become depressed, certain that they will never be able to lose weight; they comfort eat some more, maybe giving up any hope of regaining a normal weight permanently.

Owen Jones, the writer of this piece, writes on many topics, but is currently involved with lose weight fast and safe. If you have an interest in losing weight, too, please go over to our website now at Why Can’t I Lose Weight?

How To Ask Someone Out On A Date

May 23rd, 2010

OK, no more procrastinating, this is the moment you have been dreaming of and it’s up to you to make it reality. But, how can you get that dream date? Naturally, you have to start from the beginning and that means to ask the person you are interested in out. Well, how ought you to invite a person out? Do you need to be assertive? Do you have to be coy? Perhaps you need a few tips to ask someone out?

The following are quite simple but yet essential tips you can use when you find it difficult asking a someone out on a date. These tips are good when you want to invite out the person you admire. Firstly, know the right reason or reasons for asking a person out. When you know the real reason(s), the right words will surely come to you.

What if the person says no? Don’t take it to heart and certainly don’t expect it. Take it gracefully and maybe have a light-hearted, self-effacing joke at the ready. However, for some people, it might be worth practising the words you want to say. To this end, try to keep the reasons for the date foremost in your mind.

However, the person might say “yes” and then you ought to have ideas about where to go, otherwise it looks as if you have not put much thought into it. As far as you can, be ready with some ideas. See to it that you have an answer, if the person asks you why you are asking her out. You do not have to over-flatter, but you have to make sure that you make the person feel good. In this way, you can show how thoughtful you are, but never pressure anyone to go out with you.

If you did, the result would probably be negative. And don’t pressure them to tell you why it is a “no”. Also never stand someone up. This means that when you ask a person out, you mean it and you do not leave her waiting for nothing. If the person says no, do not be bitter about it. You just have to move on and not treat that person badly. Having some beer to boost your confidence is a no no.

It may just put you in an even worse position. You have to be confident naturally. The more, the better, but not on the first date. If you want to invite a person out for a date, don’t do it when she is with a circle of friends.

These are really helpful recommendations and you really ought to take note of them. They will certainly assist you if you want to take out that special person.

Dog Names

May 20th, 2010

Dog owners will tell you that there is no proven method for choosing a good name for a new dog. Whether they have to think of girl or boy dog names, usually they will choose something that sounds cool or a name they like rather than putting some thought into what the name really means. Popular boy dog names have a variety of meanings, but more often than not the meaning will not suit the dog it is given to. Below is a quick guide to the top five boy dog names and what they really mean.

Undoubtedly, one of the first things you do when you get a new dog or puppy is think up a dog name for him or her. For most dog owners, this actually takes little thought. They just choose a dog name out of thin air and that is the name by which the poor mite will be known forever. However, there are certain issues that ought to be taken into consideration when going through dog names in order to make sure that you choose the right one.

First of all, dogs sense attitude and tone of voice better than humans are able to. If you choose a dog name for comic effect or after someone you don’t like, your dog will know by your tone of voice that something is wrong. The result could well be that, their attitude may change towards you or they may refuse to respond to your commands. Dogs’ names should mean something but should not hinder their training, so you ought to take your dog’s name seriously.

While dogs are very clever creatures, they can’t understand the same amount of data that we can. Therefore, dog names should not be more than two syllables long. If they are more than that, most dogs will not respond. Max, Sam, Becky, Lady, Molly and the like are excellent dog names because they are short and the names are easily heard. They understand these dog names and that will help your chances of training them successfully.

However, dogs’ names should help them mould a character of their own. Popular names don’t really help them to do that, so finding something simple but unusual can help their characters grow a great deal without reducing their ability to respond to a command.

Max: This is probably the greatest boy dog name and the meaning is probably why most people choose it for their hound. It literally means “the greatest”. After all, every dog owner thinks that their dog is the greatest.

Jake: Jake is short for Jacob, which means “victor”. This is a suitable boy dog name, if your puppy has taken over the house within moments of setting feet inside of it!

Buddy: Buddy is a variation of Budd, which means “messenger”. This boy dog name would suit a farm dog or one you might train to bring in the newspaper of a morning. It is quite a popular boy dog name and can be very widely heard throughout the US.

Bailey: The boy dog name Bailey is French and means “steward”. This is fairly suitable if your dog is responsible and sensible, so it is suitable for a Newfoundland or collie puppy.

Sam: Sam seems to mean “an answer to prayers”. This is a good boy dog name for sedate dogs that are easy to train and are very little work!

Very few people consult the meaning of names when choosing boy dog names, so instead of going with your first thought, it may be worth taking the time to choose a dog’s name that really suits your dog. It costs nothing to spend a little time in thought about your dog’s name.

The Atkins Diet Part Two).

May 18th, 2010

Some people try make your life miserable, if you let them. Everyone could see that I looked better and felt happier, but some people just have to try to spoil it. I was told: many people have died of kidney or liver failure after being on Atkins I read it in the paper; you will have a heart attack, it’s not natural; your cholesterol will shoot up and you will need your legs amputated or you will have a stroke; it will affect your eyesight. All sorts of drivel. So, I went to my doctor, who admitted that he knew nothing about the Atkins diet, but also added that he had heard nothing bad about it either. He sent me for a series of tests, but the results all proved satisfactory. He was very happy that I’d lost 18 lbs and so was I. Six weeks later, I went for another cholesterol check, because of the high fat levels in the diet and, although my cholesterol level was up very slightly, the doctor said there was absolutely no cause for concern.

The book warns that you might suffer from bad breath (halitosis). I don’t know whether I did or not – no-one mentioned it, but I started brushing my teeth four or five times a day just in case. I guess that’s another benefit of Atkins: increased awareness of oral hygiene. It also warns of constipation. I didn’t get that either, although I didn’t give up black coffee, which has always had a laxative effect on me. But how can you become constipated if you’re allowed to eat well over 1lb of greens a day? I wasn’t eating that well before the diet! So my two main concerns were unfounded.

A couple of weeks later, I was getting bored not going out so much. I was still happy with the diet, but because I am single and am used to going out and drinking beer. So, I decided to go about this scientifically. One day, after work, I drank three pints of Guinness and felt great – the taste was wonderful. Before the diet, I would have drunk five or six pints. To my surprise and delight, the next morning the ketone stick told me that I was still ‘on the diet’. Over the following weeks, I really enjoyed experimenting to find out what would ‘work’ and what would not. I discovered that even a small amount of cider would ruin the Atkins diet; some beers and some lagers were all right; red and white wine were OK. Consuming alcohol does not knock you off the Atkins diet, but it slows down your rate of progress. Even slow progress is progress, I say. Better than giving up the diet or not going out.

Don’t listen to people who say ‘go on, just try a little bit’. They don’t understand or don’t want to understand how much they are setting you back. A body can hold two days worth of carbohydrates: one square of chocolate, one slice of bread, a bowl of cornflakes or one sugar in your coffee will cost you TWO days to clear out of your system. Just don’t let them do it to you. This is not a diet for stopping and starting whenever you you like. In fact I think that it probably could be dangerous to allow your ketone and other levels to fluctuate wildly. There are also high fat levels in the content of the Atkins diet, which is not dangerous if you stick to it, because you body consumes fat and cholesterol in the absence of carbohydrates.

That is the story so far, with me having got down to under 16 stone and keeping it there until very recently when I moved to the Far East to live. The food is so different here, but once I get used to the food and have my own house and own kitchen, I will get down to 15 stone, I’m sure I will ” without any real effort.

Anyway, thank you, Mr. Blackwell, wherever you are, you changed my life and my understanding of food and thank you, Mr. Atkins too.

Decorating Children’s Rooms

May 18th, 2010

If you’re bored with the way your home looks one of the best things that you can do is to redecorate it. Not necessarily all at once of course, as this can lead to headache upon headache for you and is almost guaranteed to bring stress into your life when you really didn’t need it. However if you work room by room, your redecorating project will become that much easier and simpler to manage.

The next stage is to figure out which room you want to decorated first. It’s not always an easy decision to make, but it must be done nevertheless. How about beginning by decorating the kids’ rooms first as this will lead to a general mood of happiness in them and can even help you in the long term too.

Decorating kids rooms can be an enjoyable way to pass your time and also gives you the chance to bond with your children too. I can’t think of a better way to get close to your kids than by getting down to their level and talking about the things that appeal to them. Decorating their rooms might be the perfect way to do that.

But where do you start? If you’ve more than one kid you need to be careful about whose room you’re going to decorate first, as things can get tense. Decorating kids rooms can be fraught with tension if you don’t handle it delicately, so I’ve found that the best way to handle it is to flip a coin in the air and have the kids call out heads or tails.

This method might not be appropriate if you’ve got more than two kids or more than two rooms to decorate, in which case I’d suggest you just get on with it and start all the decorating at once instead of tackling it room by room.

But at least you’re not doing the whole house and this way you encourage happier feelings amongst the children with no-one feeling that they have been slighted by having their room decorated last. What tends to happen when you’re decorating the rooms with the kids’ help though is that more paint gets splashed everywhere but where it should be. But then that was part of the reason you decided to begin decorating the kids rooms and perhaps even their play areas first, wasn’t it.

You’ll be all the happier for at least getting started on your decorating plans and your children will be happier for having their rooms redone too, not to mention the sheer pleasure you’ll be enjoying while you’re busy doing all this. Of course, This isn’t to say, that decorating kids rooms isn’t completely hassle or stress free.

On the contrary, you’ll probably get a boatload more stress by the time you’ve finished, but at least you’ll have had the pleasure of getting closer to your kids and seeing their rooms clean and tidy for at least one day before the kids move back into them again.

Hand-held Mosquito Zapper

May 12th, 2010

The electric bug killer is the best way of clearing your immediate vicinity of insects, especially the flying ones like mosquitoes. The hand held insect killer vaporizes any insect from a mosquito to a gnat instantly on contact with a nice, loud, electrical ‘zap’!

However, this does not mean to say that the indoor insect killer cannot be used outside, as long as it is not too wet. It should be treated like any other high voltage electrical equipment. Keep the electric bug zapper dry and please do not use it while you are standing in the pool!

Models vary greatly, but there are basically only two types of hand held insect killer: the battery operated bug zapper and the rechargeable electric bug zapper. Both are equally effective at killing insects and employ the same principle.

The indoor bug zapper resembles a ‘kids’ tennis racquet, but with three layers of ’strings’, which are in fact wires. The central network of wires becomes electrified at the touch of a button, while the other two networks, one on either side, are harmless earths.

When an insect is caught between the wires of the hand held insect killer, it creates a short, which vaporizes it instantaneously with a loud crack. The indoor insect zapper will zap other insects too, but they tend to burn rather than just disappear.

I have had the rechargeable sort for about five years and am extremely happy with the electric bug killer. In fact, the electric bug zapper has come a long way in the last few years. A fully charged hand held bug killer is strong enough to last for a few hundred swipes and will hold it’s charge, if unused, for weeks without any noticeable discharge.

The rechargeable battery pack will put up with serious use for the best part of a year, although its capability to hold a charge for several weeks slowly reduces after six or seven months.

The most recent indoor insect zapper I’ve used has a main on/off switch, a light that shines when it is activated (the brightness of this light also indicates the battery’s strength) and a light that comes on when the zapper is plugged in on recharge.

The instructions say that the bug zapper should be (re)charged for about sixteen hours. However, I usually put mine on charge over night once or twice every week or two, although the electric bug killer shows a large increase in performance after only a few hours recharging.

The latest version I’ve had also comes with a powerful light called a ‘headlamp’. I have found this very handy when walking in the garden, but I’m unsure whether it’s meant to lure the mosquitoes in the dark so that you can kill them if you’re feeling bored or just vindictive, rather like an Anglerfish.

I’ve used the headlamp on my hand held insect zapper for that too, but the beam uses a lot of battery power. All in all, the electric insect killer is a big asset to any outdoor event. The indoor bug killer is useful to ‘clean out’ your bedroom before retiring; it’s unbeatable for evening mosquitoes and it will clear a lunch table of wasps too.

Have you ever used an indoor bug zapper? If you haven’t, or if you are interested in getting an electronic insect killer, just click one of the links to our website or blog. You are welcome to reprint this article – but get your own unique content version here.

Keeping Your Dog Motivated

May 7th, 2010

Keeping the attention of your dog during training is not always an easy task. Dogs can be very easily distracted, and it is important to not allow the dog training sessions to be ruined by boredom. Making dog training fun for the dog and the human alike is essential to creating a happy, well-adjusted and well-trained dog.

Providing random positive stimuli throughout the day is a great way to keep the interest of the dog. Doing things the dog enjoys, like walking in the park, riding in the car, and playing with other dogs, are great ways to keep the dog’s attention, but you must reward him for small successes.

For instance, in order to reward the dog for coming to you when you call him, ask the dog to come to you, without giving any ideas about going for a walk, a car ride, or other treats.

After the dog has come over to you and obediently sat down, attach the leash and start the reward. This can be either the before-mentioned walk in the park, ride in the car, or anything else the dog likes to do.

Providing some sort of reward, whether a treat, a special outing, or just a tickle behind the ears, every time the dog does something you want him to, is a great way to keep your dog’s motivation while you are dog training.

If the dog knows something great is going to occur every time he obeys your command, he will be more motivated to please you every time.

Distraction training.

When training a dog, it is vital to not allow distractions spoil the training. The dog must be trained to ignore distractions, such as other people, other dogs, other animals and loud noises, and concentrate on what is being taught These kinds of distractions can also be used as rewards when training the dog to come when called.

For instance, if your dog like romping with other dogs, whether it be in the park or with the neighbour’s dogs, let him play with those other dogs. Then go into the park or garden and call your dog.

When he comes to you, provide lots of praise, treats and other rewards, then immediately allow the dog to go back to playing with his friends. Repeat this several times and praise the dog each time he comes over to you.

The dog will soon learn that coming to you means good things (treats and praise) and not bad ones (being taken away from the park).

So-called distraction training is one of the hardest things to teach, because dogs are naturally social animals, and breaking away from the pack is one of the hardest things you can ask your dog to do. Most dogs will be understandably unwilling to leave their canine companions, but it is important to persist in dog training.

Training your dog to come to you when you call may take some creativity on your part at first. For example, waving a favourite toy, or a lure, is a great way to get your dog’s attention and put the focus back on you. If your dog has been clicker trained, a quick click can be a good motivator too, when training your dog.

Once the dog begins to get used to coming when called, you can start to reduce and eliminate the visual cues and focus on getting the dog to obey your voice alone. It is vital that the dog responds to voice commands alone, since you will not always have the availability of a toy or other lure.
